Rare Antique Turkish Copper Tray – 1920s Tray with 1970s Hand-Embossed & Engraved Artwork

A truly rare and remarkable piece of Turkish copperwork, this large antique copper sini (traditional Turkish tray) carries more than a century of history.

Originally made in the 1920s, this substantial round copper tray was given a new artistic life in the 1970s, when two different master coppersmiths worked on it by hand.

The result is a unique combination of early 20th-century antique copper and 1970s Turkish artisan craftsmanship.

A Unique Two-Artist Work

Central Motif – Hand-Embossed Repoussé Work
The center features a beautifully raised floral design with dimensional leaves and fine textured details. The motif was individually hand-embossed into the copper by the first master artisan.

Outer Border & Rim – Hand-Engraved Decoration
The surrounding rings and outer rim were decorated separately by a second master craftsman using traditional hand-chiseling and engraving techniques. The geometric border displays the irregularities and depth that make genuine handmade copperwork so distinctive.

Because both the tray and the later artwork were handmade, every detail carries the marks of the craftsman’s hand.
