From the Copper Ali Collection

This set comes from the private collection of our family workshop, Copper Ali (Ali’s Copper Shop) in İncirlik, Adana, Turkey.

During the 1990s, Copper Ali acquired collections of Russian Matryoshka dolls from Russian sellers for families and members of the international community living in the İncirlik area.

This particular set has been kept in our warehouse since 1990 and has remained part of our collection for decades.

Handmade & Hand Painted

Each figure is made of wood and hand painted, with individual facial expressions, clothing details and colors. The dolls nest inside one another, from the largest figure down to the smallest.

The set features a striking series of political leader caricature-style portraits, making it an unusual and highly collectible piece of political-themed folk art.
