Copper Ali

Our Grandfather, Master Craftsman Bekir Şalgamcı, in his historic copper workshop in Adana (circa 1950s).
Our family’s tradition in traditional handicrafts began in the 1920s in Kayseri and expanded to Adana in 1949. By the late 1960s, Copper Ali (Ali Şalgamcı) took this heritage to new heights, bringing together master coppersmiths from historic copper hubs across Turkey—including Gaziantep, Kahramanmaraş, and Istanbul—to create 100% handcrafted copper and brass masterpieces.

During the 1960s and 70s, Copper Ali’s unique handcrafted brass lamps and copperware gained international appreciation, particularly among American servicemen and their families stationed at the nearby İncirlik Air Base.

Exquisite Rug & Carpet Heritage
Parallel to his renowned metalwork, Copper Ali expanded into the textile art in the late 1970s. He collaborated closely with the Development Foundation of Turkey to produce and curate high-quality hand-knotted Hereke carpets and traditional Anatolian kilims. Each piece in our collection represents the rich weaving history of Anatolia.
