Handctafted Brass Hammam Soap Box

An exceptional Turkish hand-made  brass soap box bathhouse hammam container with floral engravings used to transport clay soap and washcloth when taking a communal Turkish bath.

The piece was used as a former beauty case for women as they visited the public bath, the "Hammam".

Inside the box they carried soap, comb and washing materials. The star shaped pierced bottom part is to drain the water.

Brass lidded box with elongated oval shape is sitting on four embosed legs.
